The Catalan language evening classes, run by Scotland's Catalan Centre, run from beginning of October until June. There are two available levels: Beginner (Mondays, from 18.30 until 19.30 pm) and Intermediate/Advanced (Mondays, from 19.30 until 20.30 pm). The course lasts 30 hours, is divided in 3 terms and costs £80.
This year we'll be using a new venue: the BOW ROOM of the Central Edinburgh Quaker Meeting, 7 Victoria Terrace, Edinburgh EH1 2JL (see map).
To register for the above language lessons, please send us an email to our usual address. Payment will be taken the first day of the course either in cash or cheque.
Also, if you are unsure about your level, just go along before 6.30 p.m. and the teacher will assess you.
Official CertificatesThe Institut Ramon Llull, based in Barcelona, administers the exams towards the official Catalan language certificates.
The aptitude tests evaluate the four essential abilities for communication (comprehension, reading, writing and speaking) and include a series of tasks aiming at the assessment of the level of language mastering.
The exams can be taken at the Universities of Glasgow and Edinburgh and they normally take place around May. Exams must be booked through the Institut Ramon Llull website and cost around 30 euros.
